Belgian-Ghanaian midfielder Dirk Asare has completed a move to SV Zulte Waregem, signing a three-and-a-half-year deal with an option for an extra season after leaving Lierse SK.
The 21-year-old defensive midfielder came through the youth systems of Lommel, Westerlo and KV Mechelen, where he progressed to the first team and made his debut at 19 in a home match against Anderlecht.
Seeking more minutes, he joined Lierse SK and went on to make 32 appearances, establishing himself as a key figure in their midfield.
“I can't wait to take this new step in my career,” Asare said, calling Zulte Waregem “a fantastic club” renowned for developing young players.
He highlighted the strong structure and support staff as major reasons for choosing Essevee and hopes to quickly make his mark for the team.
Sporting director Davy De Fauw praised Asare as a young Belgian talent who impressed greatly at Lierse, describing him as a modern midfielder with strong defensive qualities and solid technique.
Zulte Waregem are excited about his arrival and confident he will add balance and dynamism to their midfield in the coming seasons.
