Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo has described his relationship with Man City teammate Erling Haaland as a “healthy competition” that drives both players to perform at their best.
The 26-year-old striker emphasized that the pair share mutual respect and a shared goal of winning trophies together.
Semenyo’s comments follow a viral clip in which Haaland joked that Semenyo was “coming for his Golden Boot,” sparking debate among fans about a potential battle for City’s top-scorer honours this season.
Speaking to CBS Golazo, Semenyo downplayed any notion of tension, instead praising Haaland’s leadership and professionalism.
“It’s great. He’s made me feel so comfortable. He’s a loud character in the changing room, very vocal, but he’s made me feel the most comfortable, I should say, from day one.
"Even with that clip [of Haaland saying ‘I’m coming for the Golden Boot’], just before that clip even came out, he was just saying, like, it’s great to have you here. Obviously, we’re going to win leagues and cups together, and compete for top goalscorer as well.
"So, I mean, it’s, like I said, healthy competition, but it’s good we’ve got two top goalscorers, I should say, in the same team.”
Semenyo has four goals and one assist in five games for Man City.
