Forward Daniel Agyei has described his maiden invitation to the Ghana national team as a âmassive honour,’ expressing deep pride in finally achieving the opportunity to represent the Black Stars.
The 28-year-old Kocaelispor striker was named in head coach Otto Addo’s 28-man squad for this month’s high-profile international friendlies against Austria and Germany, marking a significant milestone in his professional career.
Reflecting on the call-up, the London-born forward emphasized that playing at the international level is the ultimate goal for any player.
"It’s a massive honour to be called up to the Ghana national team," Agyei stated. "As a player, you always do your best to represent your country at this level, and to finally get this opportunity means everything to me, and I’m ready to give my all for this year."
Agyei’s inclusion comes on the back of a productive season in the Turkish league, where his physicality and work rate caught the attention of the technical team.
Having previously featured for AFC Wimbledon and Crewe Alexandra, his transition to the senior national team adds fresh depth to Ghana’s attacking options as they begin preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The striker is one of four debutants in a squad that blends experienced core players with emerging talent.
He is expected to join the Black Stars camp in Europe this week ahead of the clash with Austria on March 27 and Germany on March 30.
