Ghanaian attacker Prince Ampem endured a mixed night as Shanghai Port were held to a 1â1 home draw by Shenzhen Peng City in the Chinese Super League.
The winger was a constant menace throughout, registering a match-high eight touches in the opposition box, but his evening ended in disappointment with a late red card deep into stoppage time.
Shenzhen struck first on 63 minutes, when Tim Chow finished clinically from a Wai-Tsun Dai assist to punish Port on the counter. The hosts piled on the pressure and finally found their breakthrough in the 86th minute, as substitute Zhurun Liu levelled the scores to set up a frantic finale. Despite dominating possession and territory, Shanghai Port could not force a winner, and Ampem’s dismissal in the 90+8 minute killed any remaining momentum.
Ampem’s overall campaign still shows promise, with eight league appearances, one goal and one assist so far in the 2026 Chinese Super League.
Shanghai Port will now look to regroup quickly ahead of a tough away trip to Beijing Guoan on Sunday, May 10, where they will likely have to cope without their suspended Ghanaian forward.
