Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has opened up about his rapid rise in the Black Stars setup, insisting that his journey has been built on hard work, consistency, and commitment rather than luck.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with 3Sports, Asare addressed perceptions surrounding his emergence as Ghana's first-choice shot-stopper. He explained that those who doubt his journey simply do not know the work he has put in over the years.
"I'm a committed goalkeeper. Those who don't know me will think I came from nowhere to the Black Stars," Asare said.
The 33-year-old, who made his national team debut in 2025, has quickly established himself as one of the most trusted goalkeepers in the squad through a series of composed performances. He remains unfazed by criticism, insisting that public opinion does not affect his confidence.
"I don't worry about people's opinion. I know we can make mistakes in life, but I don't let that burden me. Today, I can mistake, but tomorrow I can achieve something great," he added.
Asare also stressed that selection decisions ultimately rest with the coaching staff. "Player appointment and goalkeeper selection is all the work of the coach," he stated.
The Hearts of Oak shot-stopper is currently part of Ghana's squad preparing for the upcoming international friendly against Mexico on May 22, having been called up to replace Dreams FC goalkeeper Gidios Aseako.
