Ghana international Daniel Kofi Kyereh says the trust shown in him by VfL Osnabruck means a lot as he begins another chapter in his career following a lengthy battle with injury.
The 30-year-old attacker has joined the German club on a free transfer, returning to competitive football after a difficult period that began with an anterior cruciate ligament injury in February 2023.
Kyereh had been working his way back to full fitness and recently regained match practice with SC Freiburg II, making seven appearances in the Regionalliga before securing his move to Osnabrück.
The club’s decision to sign him comes after extensive monitoring of his physical development by Head of Performance Sebastian Schwermann, who has worked closely with Kyereh during his rehabilitation.
That confidence has left the Ghanaian grateful as he prepares to rebuild his career.
“The past few years have been a very difficult time for me. I have never lost the belief that I would return to the pitch. VfL has dealt very intensively with me, my situation and my current condition. This trust means a great deal to me.”
Kyereh’s move also reunites him with head coach Timo Schultz, under whom he enjoyed the most productive period of his German career at FC St. Pauli.
He scored 21 goals and provided 20 assists in 62 second-tier appearances for St. Pauli, including 12 goals and 10 assists in the 2021/22 campaign.
The Ghana international will wear the No. 7 shirt at Osnabrück as he continues his return to his best level.
