Nations FC have expressed their gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama after presenting their MTN FA Cup trophy at the Jubilee House.
The FA Cup holders were among three Ghanaian clubs received by the President on Tuesday, alongside Ghana Premier League champions Medeama and Women's Premier League winners Ampem Darkoa Ladies.
Nations FC presented their MTN FA Cup trophy to Mahama during the visit and received US$20,000 in financial support towards their ongoing CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
“We are grateful to the President for his warm reception, encouragement & financial support as we continue our CAF Confederation Cup campaign,” the club said.
The financial boost comes ahead of a crucial second-leg encounter in the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round.
Nations FC lost the first leg 1-0 to FC Diarra in Bamako and must overturn the deficit in the return leg to progress to the next round.
The Ghanaian side will now look to use home advantage to overturn the deficit and keep their continental campaign alive. The second leg will be played at the Accra Sports Stadium after CAF did not approve the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Abrankese as a venue for the club’s home matches.
The Jubilee House visit also gave Nations FC an opportunity to showcase the trophy they won last season and receive encouragement from the President ahead of their decisive continental fixture.
