Black Princesses make two changes for South Korea test at U-20 World Cup

Ghana head coach Charles Sampson has made two changes to his starting line-up for the Black Princesses’ second Group D match against South Korea at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Poland 2026.

The Black Princesses are aiming to respond to their opening defeat by Ecuador and keep their hopes of progressing from the group alive. Sampson has selected a revised team for Wednesday’s fixture, with Salma Naazo handed her first start of the tournament.

Precious Akanguwie retains her place in goal, while Naazo joins Diana Amoako, Juliana Gyekyewaa and Alexandra Tay in the defensive line.

Esther Asamoah, Latifa Musah and Ivy Osei Owusu will operate in midfield alongside captain Sarah Nyarko, who will lead the side as Ghana seek their first points of the competition.

The attack will be led by Guangdong Meizhou Women forward Agnes Yeboah and Priscilla Mensah. The pair will be tasked with providing the threat as Ghana attempt to recover from their opening result against Ecuador.

Wednesday’s match will be played at Arena Sosnowiec in Poland, with kick-off scheduled for 13:00 GMT.

The fixture is Ghana’s second Group D match at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Poland 2026. A positive result would revive the Black Princesses’ hopes of advancing from the group, while the team will be looking to turn Sampson’s two changes into a stronger performance against South Korea.

Sampson’s selection gives Naazo an opportunity to make her first start, while the rest of the defensive unit includes Akanguwie, Amoako, Gyekyewaa and Tay. Nyarko remains the central figure in midfield as captain, with Asamoah, Musah and Osei Owusu completing the midfield group named in the starting line-up.

Yeboah and Mensah will provide Ghana’s attacking option in a match the Black Princesses must approach with the aim of securing their first points of the tournament.
