Derby County head coach John Eustace has praised Black Stars forward Mohammed Fuseini, describing his debut for the club as “excellent.”
Eustace made the remarks after Derby County suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to West Bromwich Albion in the Championship, with Fuseini playing the entire duration of the contest.
The Ghana international made his first start for the Rams after joining the club on a season-long loan from Belgian Jupiler Pro League side Union Saint-Gilloise in the recently concluded transfer window.
Despite Derby’s defeat, Fuseini impressed with his direct approach and attacking threat, with Eustace pleased with the overall performance of the 23-year-old.
“It was an excellent debut for him. I thought he was excellent. He was really exciting out there, and that’s why we brought him to the football club. Overall, I thought his performance was very good,” Eustace said.
The Derby boss, however, believes Fuseini can still improve his efficiency in the final third, particularly with his delivery and finishing.
“Obviously, we need a little bit more consistency with his quality in the final third, with his crosses and finishing. So, I’m sure that will come,” he added.
Fuseini completed three of his four attempted dribbles, while also completing 33 of 37 passes during an encouraging individual display.
He also registered one shot on target, although he was unable to find the back of the net as Derby suffered their narrow defeat.
The performance will nevertheless provide Fuseini with confidence as he continues to adapt to English football and looks to establish himself as an important player for Derby County this season.
