Karela United head coach Nurudeen Amadu has stressed the importance of his side’s 1-1 draw away to Swedru All Blacks, describing the point as vital in their push for stability and survival in the Ghana Premier League.
Karela earned the draw on Sunday at the Swedru Sports Stadium after a disciplined display that limited the hosts for long spells and saw the visitors recover from conceding first.
Amadu underlined that taking something from a difficult away fixture was essential in maintaining momentum and avoiding unnecessary pressure later in the season.
“It was a very difficult game. We knew it was going to be difficult. They are a very good side, and when you come here you have to be tactically aware and encourage your players to remain disciplined and follow the instructions that were issued,” Amadu said after the match.
“So I think that became important here. This is good for us and we are delighted, because we are going away again. If you lose two away matches, it means you go down towards the bottom. So this one point is a welcome result for us.”
The draw keeps Karela United sixth on the league table with 24 points, a position Amadu believes reflects the value of picking up results on the road as the season progresses.
