Antoine Semenyo has offered a rare personal insight into his life away from football by publicly sharing a video of his baptism, as speculation intensifies over his imminent move from Bournemouth to Manchester City.
The Ghana international, who is closing in on a reported £65 million switch to the Etihad Stadium, used social media to reflect on what he described as the most successful year of his career, underpinned by faith and gratitude.
The 25-year-old posted a collection of images and videos on Instagram, including a clip of himself being baptised on Bournemouth beach.
In the footage, Semenyo is seen wearing a white shirt and black trousers as he is immersed in the sea before rising and looking skyward with a broad smile.
The post, which also featured moments with family, his dog and his partner, carried a strong religious theme.
“I don’t know where to start,” Semenyo wrote. “The love was endless. These pictures don’t even tell the full story but I thank you God for your protection, your blessings and your work over my life. 2026 let’s get it!” Another image in the carousel read: “On a serious note, thank you God.”

Faith has become an increasingly visible part of Semenyo’s public identity. His Instagram profile describes him as being “powered by Jesus”, and he was also pictured holding a figurine of Christ bearing the message “Jesus loves you”.
The post comes at a time when his future appears close to being resolved. Manchester City are in advanced discussions with Bournemouth after opening talks earlier this week, with the Premier League champions eager to strengthen Pep Guardiola’s attacking options.
Despite the ongoing negotiations, Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has not ruled out Semenyo featuring in Saturday’s home clash against league leaders Arsenal.
“It is not his last game,” Iraola said after the 2â2 draw at Chelsea. “I can’t say 100 per cent but I think he will play, yes. He needs to recover because we play Arsenal at home in another three days, against top of the league, he will be an important player for us, yes.”
Semenyo’s stock has risen sharply this season after nine goals and three assists in 18 league appearances, attracting interest from several elite clubs.
Liverpool explored a move as they reshaped Arne Slot’s squad, while Chelsea made late enquiries before pulling out, citing depth in attack.
