AFC Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has praised Antoine Semenyo's late winner against Tottenham Hotspur as a perfect send-off, as the Spanish gaffer said his winger had probably played his last match for the club.
The Ghana striker looked emotional as he struck late as the Cherries secured a 3-2 win against Spurs at the Vitality Stadium on Wednesday and then left the pitch to an ovation from the fans.
Semenyo is expected to complete his move to Manchester City today in a deal with a release clause of 65 million pounds.
"That was a lovely [moment] for Antoine,” Iraola said. "Sometimes football gives you these things. He has been top, he has given everything and been committed until the end. I think it is good that football gives him back this moment.
"There are still formalities [in his transfer]. I’m afraid to say because I don’t want to lose him, but that looks like it will be his last moments with us."
Speaking of Semenyo's overall impact at Bournemouth since joining from Bristol City two years ago, Iraola described him as "one of the best players" he had coached.
"A top professional," Iraola continued. "We are not [only] losing an incredible player but one of the best players I have ever coached. He is a top guy, so full of energy and ready for whatever you need him. I am sure he will continue his development because he has improved every season with us."
