Borussia Dortmund have announced the signing of German-born Ghanaian centre-back Leroy Kwadwo, who has joined the club on a short-term contract running until June 30, 2026.
The 29-year-old defender will feature for Borussia Dortmund’s U23 side, competing in the Regionalliga, for the remainder of the 2025/26 season.
Kwadwo was previously without a club after parting ways with TSV 1860 Munich and has been brought in to add experience and depth to Dortmund’s defensive unit.
Born in Herten, Kwadwo began his professional career at Rot-Weiss Essen, where he developed into a reliable central defender before going on to represent several clubs across Germany’s lower divisions.
The Ghanaian descent defender enjoyed a notable spell at TSV 1860 Munich and has built a solid reputation as a seasoned campaigner in the German football pyramid.
Across his career, Kwadwo has made 130 appearances in the 3. Liga and a further 40 matches in the Regionalliga, underlining his wealth of experience at that level.
He also featured four times in the 2. Bundesliga for Würzburger Kickers, gaining exposure to higher-tier football.
Explaining the decision to sign Kwadwo, Dortmund U23 Sporting Director Ingo Preuss said the defender was recruited at short notice to address a gap in central defence, highlighting his leadership and experience as key assets.
Kwadwo’s move represents a fresh opportunity to relaunch his career at one of Germany’s most respected clubs.
