Heart of Lions head coach Bashir Hayford has admitted his uncertainty over whether his team can reverse their alarming slump in form before the end of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.
Speaking after a 1-0 defeat to Bechem United on Sunday, a result that extended their winless run, Hayford expressed his frustration at the team's sudden and unexplained decline.
"Unfortunately, the same coach, the same players, the same training sessions and the same everything, but all of a sudden it went off," he told journalists. "We have tried and tried, but the same thing. It’s difficult."
The Kpando-based side's struggles mark a stark reversal from their strong start to the campaign, where they lost just once in their opening 11 matches.
Their form has since collapsed, with only one victory secured in their last ten outings. This slide has seen them plummet to seventh in the table, now 16 points adrift of leaders Medeama SC, effectively ending their title ambitions.
Hayford, searching for solutions, remained unsure of a quick fix. "We are trying to get the answers. Maybe we will get it before the end of the season, or maybe next season," he conceded.
The immediate task for Heart of Lions is a daunting home fixture against league leaders Asante Kotoko on Saturday, January 31.
The match presents a formidable challenge for a team desperately in need of a catalyst to halt their downward spiral and rediscover the form that made them early-season contenders.
