Ghana international winger Ernest Nuamah has taken a significant step in his recovery journey after returning to ball work following a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
The Olympique Lyonnais forward has been out of competitive action for close to ten months after suffering an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury, which forced him to undergo treatment and rehabilitation away from the pitch.
However, there is renewed optimism at Lyon and within the Ghana camp as the 22-year-old has resumed light training with the ball.
Nuamah’s return to the training ground is a major boost for both club and country.
The former FC Nordsjaelland attacker has shown encouraging signs during his recovery and is expected to gradually reintegrate with his teammates in the coming weeks, pending medical clearance.
On the international scene, Nuamah was absent as the Black Stars failed to secure qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Prior to his injury, however, he played a key role in Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, offering pace, directness and creativity in attack.
His recovery comes as welcome news for Ghanaian football fans, who have endured a challenging period marked by injuries to key Black Stars players including Mohammed Kudus, Salisu Mohammed and others.
With other players like Daniel-Kofi Kyereh and Brandon Thomas-Asante regaining fitness, there is growing hope that Ghana can rebuild momentum ahead of upcoming international assignments.
