German-born Ghanaian forward Aaron Opoku endured a difficult night as his side, Kayserispor, were beaten 4-0 by league leaders Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Lig on Sunday.
Opoku was at the centre of the game’s defining moment early on. Under intense pressure inside the opening minutes, the attacker accidentally turned the ball into his own net in the seventh minute while attempting to clear danger. The own goal handed Galatasaray an early advantage and shifted momentum firmly in favour of the hosts at RAMS Park.

Despite the setback, Opoku continued to work hard, pressing from the front and trying to support his teammates, but Kayserispor struggled to contain Galatasaray’s attacking quality. The early goal unsettled the visitors and made an already difficult task even harder.
Galatasaray took full control of the match, adding to their lead through Victor Osimhen, who converted a penalty in the first half. After the break, Osimhen turned provider for Gabriel Sara, before Mauro Icardi sealed the emphatic win with a late spot-kick.
For Opoku, it was an unfortunate outing defined by a costly error. He will be keen to respond positively and move past the setback as Kayserispor prepare for their next league challenge.
