Former Elmina Sharks forward Richard Atikah has passed away.
The legendary striker reportedly died over the weekend, according to a post from the club.
"We are heartbroken by the passing of Richard ATIKAH our former top scorer and a true Elmina Sharks legend. Your goals, passion and love for the badge will never be forgotten. Rest in perfect peace, champ. Our deepest condolences to the family, friends and the entire Elmina Sharks FC family," wrote the club.
Atikah played a huge role in the club's early days, helping them achieve promotion for the 2008/09 season.
He was also top scorer of the club during their time in the lower leagues and also played for them in the Ghana Premier League.
Although, he could not play for the Ghana national team, he carved a cult hero status in Elmina with his performances for Sharks.
