German-Ghanaian defender Gideon Jung has expressed his excitement after completing his move to Alemannia Aachen, describing the transfer as a positive step at an important stage of his career.
The 31-year-old recently joined the German third-division side from Kayserispor, bringing with him vast experience from spells in the Bundesliga, 2. Bundesliga and Turkish top flight. Jung previously worked with sporting director Rachid Azzouzi at Greuther Furth, a connection that helped facilitate the move.
“I’m very happy to now be part of the team,” Jung told the club’s official website. “The talks with Rachid and Mersad were open and clear from the start. After the last few months, I mainly want to get back into the rhythm quickly and help the team with full energy.”
Jung has made 83 Bundesliga appearances and 125 matches in Germany’s second tier, and was part of Germany’s U21 European Championship-winning squad in 2017. His versatility, allowing him to play in central defence or defensive midfield, is expected to add leadership and stability to the Alemannia Aachen squad as they push forward in the league.
