Ghana defender Jonas Adjetey has penned an emotional message to FC Basel and fans of the club following his winter transfer to Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg.
The Black Stars centre-back signed a four-and-a-half year deal to join Wolfsburg on transfer deadline day, ending a successful three-year spell at Basel.
Adjetey leaves after helping the Swiss giants to a league and cup double last season, and despite his departure describes Basel as home.
"Some places instantly feel like home. FC Basel was exactly that kind of place for me," he posted on Instagram.
"My time at FCB was filled with joy, pride, and immense gratitude. This club placed its trust in me and gave me moments I will cherish forever. Becoming champions and cup winners last season was a dream come true. No one can take those memories away from me.
"But what truly outshines everything else are you, the fans. Your passion, your support, your love for these colors â you were always there. At every match, in every moment. For that, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
"It's not easy for me to take this step. Because FC Basel has become more than just a club to me. But it's not goodbye. It's see you soon. Thank you for everything, your Jonas."
Adjetey could make his debut for Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, February 7, 2026.
