Assistant coach of the Black Starlets, Nana Kweku Agyemang, has opened up about the work the technical team is doing as part of preparations for the 2026 U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Speaking to Citi Sports after the friendly matches against Port City and Sempi Fi on Wednesday, the coach disclosed that there is no pressure on the technical team.
He admits that working with U17 players is tough, but believes the future is bright for the team.
“When you are working with young players, it’s always tough. You have to be patient. They will make all the mistakes, but apart from that, I think we are okay. The FA has done well. So far, we don’t have any major challenges. We are not under any pressure to deliver anything,” Nana Kweku Agyemang said.
The Black Starlets assistant coach continued, “We have been given the free hand to work, so that makes it very exciting. It’s going to take time for them to develop, but we have Ghana has that patience for us to be able to develop.”
In the two friendlies against Port City and Sempi Fi played at the Accra Sports Stadium, the Black Starlets emerged victorious in both matches.
The team is expected to play additional friendly matches before the U17 AFCON in Morocco in April.
