Ghanaian defender Kingsley Schindler produced a standout moment as his precise assist helped Buriram United earn a 1-1 draw away to Melbourne City FC in the first leg of their 2025/26 AFC Champions League Elite Round of 16 tie.
Lining up on the right of Buriram’s attacking trio, Schindler broke the deadlock on 37 minutes, timing his run and delivery perfectly for Bissoli to finish and make it 1-0 to the Thai champions.
Buriram looked set to take a valuable away win back home, only to be pegged back deep into stoppage time when Mazzeo struck a dramatic 90+5-minute equaliser for City. Even so, Schindler’s intelligent wide play, work rate and end product underlined his growing influence on this Buriram side. In this season’s AFC Champions League Elite Round of 16, Schindler now has 7 appearances and 1 assist to his name, reflecting his creative contribution from the flank.
Buriram will quickly turn their focus to the second leg at home against Melbourne City on March 10, where Schindler’s invention could again prove crucial to deciding who reaches the quarterfinals.
