Asante Kotoko interim head coach Prince Yaw Owusu has revealed that he has addressed his players following the team's disappointing 2â1 home loss to FC Samartex and is confident they will respond positively.
The defeat left Kotoko fourth on the Ghana Premier League table with 43 points, eight behind leaders Bibiani Gold Stars. With a crucial away clash against Medeama SC looming on Sunday, Owusu has been working to lift the spirits of his squad.
"I have spoken to them⦠the boys are ready to fight back and make sure they bring some life into the supporters," Owusu told the club's media.
The coach acknowledged the setback but urged his players not to dwell on it.
"In life, things happen; when it happens, you don't have to let it keep you down."
Kotoko travel to Tarkwa to face a Medeama side that has also been struggling, having surrendered a nine-point lead to slip to second place. Owusu sees an opportunity to exploit their rivals' vulnerabilities.
"We are just going to counter-attack and see if we can bring them down."
With the title race entering its decisive phase, Sunday's clash could prove pivotal. For Owusu, the message has been delivered. Now, it is up to his players to respond.
