Former Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Fredrick Asare has shared his delight after winning his first trophy with South African side Durban City FC.
The Ghanaian shot-stopper, who played a role en route to the final, watched from the bench as Durban came from a goal down to beat TS Galaxy and make history.
TS Galaxy opened the scoring just before half time through Seluleko Mahlambi but Mfanafuthi Mkhize levelled after the break.
Jean Lwamba Lubumba powered home the winner with 20 minutes remaining.
"About last night. Proud 2026 Nedbank Cup winner. The Citizens," posted the ex-Accra Lions goalie as he expressed his excitement.
The 26-year-old remains the second-choice shot-stopper at Durban City, and remains the ideal replacement for Darren Keet, who announced he will retire at the end of the season following a remarkable career.
Asare moved to South Africa in 2025 after deciding to end his stay in Kumasi with Asante Kotoko.
Before his time in Kumasi, he had excelled with Accra Lions in the Ghana Premier League.
