Ghanaian midfielder Desmond Acquah was on the scoresheet but could not prevent FCV Dender EH from falling to a late 3-2 defeat away to Lommel in the Belgian Pro League Qualification final first leg.
Acquah opened the scoring in the 34th minute, arriving in the box to finish confidently after a smart assist from Mohamed Berte, giving Dender a deserved 1-0 lead at half-time. Lommel reacted after the break, with Ralf Seuntjens levelling matters in the 55th minute.
Dender showed real character to edge back in front when Berte made it 2-1 in the 83rd minute, this time being teed up by substitute Amine Daali. However, the hosts hit back immediately as Seuntjens struck again in the 86th minute, before Zalán Vancsa completed the turnaround deep into stoppage time with a 90+6th-minute winner.
Despite the painful result, it was a standout night for Acquah, who continues to grow in influence for Dender. The 23-year-old has made 12 appearances in the 2025/26 season, scoring 1 goal and providing 1 assist in league play.
