Nations FC captain Razak Simpson has expressed optimism about earning a place in Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Despite not being named in the provisional squad set to play Wales in a friendly on Tuesday, the defender insisted he remains fit and motivated.
Simpson shared his thoughts after leading Nations FC to FA Cup glory following their 5-4 penalty shootout win over Dreams FC in the 2025/26 final at the University of Ghana Stadium.
“Are you sure I will not be going to the World Cup? The final selection hasn't come yet. So I'm just hoping and I'm still training. I'm still fit. So we'll see. I just give it to God,” he said.
Simpson also referenced his involvement in Ghana’s recent friendly against Mexico, highlighting his continued connection with the national team setup as he awaits further opportunities.
“You see something like we went play Mexico it's like two things I don't want to talk plenty but I was part of the Mexico game we just have to wish them all the best coming tomorrow in the game and me I know they are going to win after that then we see what happens,” he added.
His remarks come after a season defined by contrast, as Nations FC combined relegation from the Ghana Premier League with a historic FA Cup triumph.
The club defeated Dreams FC 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw, sealing a trophy-winning campaign that has kept Simpson in the spotlight both domestically and internationally.
