Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director, Ibrahim Sannie Daara, believes the Black Stars' FIFA World Cup campaign should serve as a foundation for future success, insisting the team deserves credit for its performances despite falling short of its ultimate objective.
Having finished 3rd in Group L, the Black Stars were eliminated in the Round of 32 after a 1-0 loss to Colombia.
Speaking on Asempa FM, Sannie Daara said Ghana exited the tournament with its reputation intact, praising the players for their commitment and determination throughout the competition.
"Nothing is off the table for the Black Stars. We didn't disgrace ourselves at the World Cup; the boys gave their all. What we need now is to strengthen the team and address the areas that still need fixing," he said.
Although the Black Stars were unable to progress further in the tournament, Daara noted that their displays showed the team is moving in the right direction under the current setup.
He called on the GFA and the technical team to use the lessons from their World Cup campaign to improve the squad, rather than embarking on a complete overhaul.
He further stressed that strengthening key aspects of the team should now become the priority as Ghana prepares for upcoming international competitions, including the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, which are set to begin in September.
He added that the players demonstrated resilience and commitment on the world's biggest stage, adding that targeted improvements in quality and depth could help transform the Black Stars into genuine contenders in future tournaments.
With the World Cup behind them, the Black Stars will now shift their focus to qualifying for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ghana has been drawn in Group C alongside Ivory Coast, Somalia and The Gambia, with the qualifying campaign set to begin in September.
