The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed the calendar for the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season, with the campaign set to begin on the weekend of September 4 to 7, 2026, and conclude on the weekend of May 28 to 31, 2027.
The approved schedule aligns with FIFA's calendar for member associations, allowing the domestic season to run smoothly while improving planning, competitiveness and operational efficiency.
Following the GFA Congress on August 20, clubs will have adequate time to complete their pre-season preparations before the new campaign gets underway.
As in the previous season, Premier League matches will primarily be played on weekends, with midweek fixtures reserved only for outstanding matches. The arrangement is aimed at providing greater fixture stability and reducing scheduling congestion.
Defending champions Medeama SC will begin the new season looking to retain their title against the country's leading clubs after lifting the 2025/26 championship.
The 2026/27 campaign will also feature three newly promoted clubs. Debibi United, FC AshantiGold 04 and Port City FC secured promotion from the Division One League and will be aiming to establish themselves in Ghana's top flight.
The GFA says it remains committed to delivering a well-organised and competitive league season for clubs, players, match officials, commercial partners and supporters across the country.
