Ghana goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi finished the 2026 FIFA World Cup with the tournament's highest goals prevented statistic, underlining his outstanding impact despite featuring for just 135 minutes.
The St. Gallen shot-stopper recorded a goals prevented figure of 2.35, the best among all goalkeepers at the tournament. The metric compares the quality of shots faced, based on expected goals on target, with the number of goals conceded.
Ati-Zigi started Ghana's opening group match before suffering an injury midway through the team's second fixture, limiting him to one and a half matches at the tournament.
Despite the reduced playing time, the 29-year-old produced a series of crucial saves that helped the Black Stars during the group stage, with his performances ranking above every other goalkeeper in the competition in terms of goals prevented.
The Ghana international's displays were one of the positives from the Black Stars' campaign, which saw the team reach the Round of 32 before exiting the competition following a narrow defeat to Colombia.
