Ghanaian defender Hafiz Gariba has missed out on FC Barcelona's 30-man squad for the club's pre-season training camp in England after being sidelined by illness.
The young centre-back had initially been invited to train with Hansi Flick's first-team squad following an impressive 2025/26 campaign, marking another significant milestone in his development at the Catalan club.
According to BarcaTimes, Gariba has been unable to train over the past week because of illness, ruling him out of the travelling squad despite his strong start to pre-season.
The 19-year-old joined Barcelona in 2025 from Spanish academy side Fundacion Marcet and has progressed rapidly through the club's ranks. His performances last season caught the attention of Flick, who rewarded him with the opportunity to work alongside the senior team during pre-season.
Although missing the England camp is a setback, Gariba remains highly regarded within the club and is expected to resume training once he has fully recovered.
The Ghanaian is under contract at Barcelona until June 2027, with the club viewing him as one of its promising young defensive prospects as he continues his development within the Blaugrana setup.
