Ghanaian midfielder Patrick Mensah scored for B68 Toftir, but his effort could not prevent a 2-1 defeat against VÃkingur Gota in the Faroe Islands Premier League.
The result extended Vikingur’s strong league campaign while leaving B68 without a reward for their spirited display.
Vikingur made the brighter start and took control in the 27th minute when Aron Benjaminsen opened the scoring. The hosts continued to apply pressure and doubled their advantage through Jakup Johansen 14 minutes later.
B68 responded almost immediately. Mensah pulled one goal back in the 44th minute after combining with Djoni Samuelsen, giving his side renewed belief heading into half-time. The Ghanaian midfielder’s goal ensured Vikingur faced a tense second half.
B68 pushed for an equaliser after the restart, but Vikingur defended their lead effectively. Mensah remained involved in the contest and was booked in the 68th minute for a foul before completing the match.
The midfielder was rated B68’s best player by Sofascore, receiving a score of 7.9. However, his performance was not enough to change the outcome as Vikingur held on for an important home victory
