Medeama SC continued their preparations for the 2026/27 football season with a 2-2 draw against Ivorian side AFAD Plateau in another preseason friendly in Côte d’Ivoire.
The Yellow and Mauves are currently in Ivory Coast for an intensive preseason programme as they fine-tune their squad ahead of what promises to be a demanding campaign on both the domestic and continental fronts.
The encounter with AFAD Plateau was the fourth friendly match played by Medeama since arriving in Ivory Coast, with the Ghanaian champions recording two victories, one defeat and one draw in their opening four games.
Medeama have been using the preseason camp not only to build match fitness but also to work on their tactical organisation ahead of their return to the CAF Champions League.
The Tarkwa-based club will have to balance their continental ambitions with their domestic commitments during the new campaign, with the team expected to compete strongly in the Ghanaian top-flight competition while also representing the country on the African stage.
Their CAF Champions League campaign will begin in the preliminary round, where they have been drawn against Democratic Republic of Congo giants TP Mazembe.
The tie presents a major early test for Medeama, with Mazembe bringing significant experience and pedigree to the competition.
Medeama will therefore be hoping that their preseason programme in Ivory Coast gives the squad the necessary preparation, sharpness and tactical discipline to compete effectively against one of Africa’s most established clubs.
The draw against AFAD Plateau means Medeama’s four-match preseason record now stands at two wins, one draw and one defeat, offering the technical team a mixture of positive performances and areas that still require attention before competitive football begins.
With more friendly matches expected as the camp continues, Medeama will be looking to improve their cohesion, sharpen their attacking play and strengthen their defensive organisation.
The club’s participation in the CAF Champions League adds further importance to the preparations, particularly with the first preliminary-round tie against TP Mazembe expected to provide a stern examination of the squad.
For Medeama, the immediate objective will be to use the remaining days of their preseason camp effectively before turning their attention fully to the new season and the challenge of competing on multiple fronts.
The Yellow and Mauves will be determined to enter the campaign in the best possible condition, with their continental assignment against TP Mazembe serving as one of the earliest and biggest tests of their preparations.
