Ghanaian midfielder Bernard Mensah provided an assist as Al-Riyadh defeated Al Zulfi 2-0 in the King’s Cup round of 32 at Al Zulfi Stadium.
The victory sent Al-Riyadh safely through after a controlled performance on the road.
Mensah played an important role in the opening goal, supplying the final pass for Leandro Antunes in the 25th minute. Antunes converted the opportunity to give the visitors a deserved lead before half-time, leaving Al Zulfi with work to do after the break.
Al-Riyadh remained organised in the second half and limited the hosts’ chances. Mensah continued to influence the midfield before being replaced by Salman Matar in the third minute of added time. His contribution earned him a Sofascore rating of 6.2.
The visitors eventually doubled their advantage in the 74th minute. Antunes found the net again after receiving an assist from Mahmoud Trézéguet, completing his brace and effectively settling the contest.
Al Zulfi tried to respond during the final stages, but Al-Riyadh’s defence stood firm.
