Asante Kotoko are at an advanced stage in negotiations to sign Moroccan goalkeeper Abdel Wadie Mourad, with both parties edging closer to reaching a deal.
The 22-year-old shot-stopper, who currently plays for Botola Pro side Chabab Mohammedia, has been linked with a move to the Ghana Premier League in recent weeks.
According to reports, Mourad is closing in on a move to an unnamed Ghanaian club, with Kotoko now emerging as the frontrunners for his signature.
The goalkeeper has been a regular for Chabab Mohammedia in the Moroccan top flight, making 13 appearances and playing 1,170 minutes during the 2024/25 Botola Pro season. He is valued at approximately €130,000 and is represented by Mir Sport.
His arrival would add depth to Kotoko's goalkeeping department, which has undergone significant changes this window. The Porcupine Warriors have already secured the return of former goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim, while Mohammed Camara has departed for Ethiopian side Mechal.
If completed, Mourad would become the latest Moroccan player to feature in the Ghana Premier League. The deal would also represent a significant move for Kotoko as they continue to strengthen their squad under head coach Eric Tinkler ahead of the 2026/27 season.
With negotiations reportedly at an advanced stage, an official announcement could be expected soon.
