Crime cases in Ashaiman reduce

Criminals now find Ashaiman uncomfortable following tight security measures the Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) and community watchdogs have put in place to make the area a brisk 24-hour business center.

Several of the neighbourhoods have their recognised security patrols, mainly youth, whose operations are backing up the wider operations of the area’s police who have limited patrol vehicles.

Commercial motorbike (okada) transport operators have formed recognised unions and so rarely, in many years now, has Ashaiman recorded theft cases involving okada operators.

In addition to the citizens being security conscious, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Orlando Joseph Adzokpa, the Ashaiman District Police Commander, said no investor should “think twice” of investing in the cosmopolitan area.

“I can tell you on authority that Ashaiman, now, is not safe for criminals. A lot of businesses are thriving in the municipality because security is tight for any recalcitrant criminal to misbehave,” DSP Orlando told newsmen during a presentation of a brand-new ISUZU pickup vehicle to the District Command by Alhaji Ibrahim Abdul Rahman, a born and bred Ashaiman businessman.

He added, “The population of Ashaiman is increasing by the day because of the peaceful business environment because of the high security being enjoyed. Criminals who used Ashaiman as their hideouts have revised their notes because if they try, they will smoked out.”

The vehicle donation by Alhaji Rahman to the District Police Command makes it two patrol vehicles the command can boast of. Before the latest vehicle, the only patrol vehicle had visited the mechanic shop countless times.

“And so, for the command, this new pickup vehicle is an immense motivation to us, and, yes, we will need more because the Ashaiman District Command is wide,” DSP Orlando said.
