Former President John Dramani Mahama has wished students writing the 2018 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) well.
The examinations began on Monday as candidates wrote English Language and Religious and Moral Education (RME).
They will continue with Integrated Science and Basic Design and Technology (BDT) on Tuesday.
The exams are expected to end on Friday with Social Studies.
“It’s exams week,” Mr Mahama tweeted on Monday before the start of the exams.
“Wishing all candidates in this year’s BECE the very best of luck.”

He asked parents, teachers and invigilators to help calm the students “to ensure that they are relaxed before and after each paper”.
Approximately 509,824 candidates from 16,060 schools are writing the exams at 1,772 centres across the country.
