The Court presided over by His Honour Anthony Aduku Aidoo granted the suspect, Baba Alhassan, a GH¢10,000 bail with three sureties.
Justice Aidoo required the sureties to be residents of Tamale who must be government workers earning not less that GH¢10,000.
They are further required to deposit their passport pictures at the Court’s registry.
Suspect Baba Alhassan was on Thursday picked up by the police after pressure had been mounted on them by staff of the Hospital to bring to book the perpetrators of the last Monday’s attack.
The youth were believed to be part of the pro-NPP vigilante group Kandahar Boys.
Baba Alhassan was arraigned before court Friday morning and tried for assault, unlawful entry, and conspiracy to steal.
But his lawyer, Mohammed Shaibu, prayed the court to consider the right to liberty of his client.
Counsel argued that the charges leveled against his client are “demeaning” as the prosecution had no proof that his client stole.
He also argued that prosecution cannot charge his client for unlawful entry as the Tamale Teaching Hospital is a public place.
Lawyer Shaibu also argued that even though his client is a member of the NPP youth group Kandahar Boys, he was not among those who besieged the office of Dr Akolbila.
However, the prosecutor insisted that the police had enough evidence that Baba Alhassan was among the youth that besieged the office of CEO.
The case has been adjourned to Monday, September 3, 2018.
Police presence was heavy at the court premises.
