Ghana Premier League champions Aduana Stars bowed out of this year’s CAF Confederation Cup suffering a 6-0 thumping at the hands of Raja Casablanca of Morocco.
The Moroccans needed a win at all cost to qualify to the quarter-finals and they made a statement as early as the third minute, when Mouhcine Iajour opened the score at the Stade Mohammed V.
He got his second after just 15 minutes of play.
The Ghanaians could not contain the onslaught and there was little motivation as the match was only a dead rubber for them, having lost the penultimate group game against ASEC Mimosas.
Coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi had also expressed frustrations prior to the trip, hinting of quitting after Wednesday’s game.
The Moroccans took advantage of the lacklustre state of the Ghanaians to bury them 6-0, sending the North Africans top of Group A.
Though ASEC Mimosas beat AS Vita 2-0 earlier in the day, it counted for nothing with Raja’s win.
The Congolese, however, had already booked a place in the knock-out round.
