The Ministry of Education has released a breakdown of candidates who sat the maiden licensure examinations for prospective teachers.
A total of 28,766 candidates sat the exams, which kicked off on Monday, September 10 amid delays.
The majority of these candidates – precisely 24, 687 – are diploma students.
Three thousand eight hundred and eighty-five (3,885) are First Degree holders while seven are Master’s Degree holders.
There were also 187 Post-Graduate Diploma students, according to the breakdown from the Ministry.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Ministry hinted that results of the examinations will be released in mid-October with the next exams scheduled for January, 2019.
Prospective candidates are therefore entreated to await announcement of examination registration timelines.
“The National Teaching Council is committed to conducting the licensure examinations in the most professional manner possible, to ensure that teachers in this country are brought in line with international best practices.”
On Monday, September 17, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo asked teachers to embrace the licensure exams, saying it is to maintain best practice.
