The good old days of Ghanaian storytelling would be re-lived on August 31 when the Bureau of Ghana Languages, holds ‘Ananse s?m Asi soo…!’ as part of the 17th Ghana International Book Fair.
The event, to be held at the International Trade Fair Centre, is designed to explore Ghanaian languages through riddle contest, dramatic readings, poetry and folk music performances as well as old traditional games re-enactment.
It will feature one of the greatest storytellers in the history of Ghana, Grace Omaboe (a.k.a Maame Dokunu) and some of the old cast members of the famous GTV ‘By The Fireside’ in the enactment of one of their episodes.
The event will create a platform for participants to have conversation with them regarding their experience during the days of ‘By The Fireside’.
The Ghana International Book Festival (GIBF) is a platform where players of the book industry meet to promote the rich Ghanaian culture and literacy through books.
This year’s edition, besides The Literary Legends Evening, will have a workshop on managing metadata to be facilitated by the Book Onix people from UK; Electronic-Publishing workshop to be facilitated by Youth Empowerment Alliance, USA.
There will also be Time with African Authors; Reading Session with Showbiz Icons and Anansesem Asi Soo…!’
