Ghanaians have been urged to pray and support Team Ghana ahead of the start of the 12th All Africa Games in Morocco.
The Games start on Monday and end on Saturday, August 31.
Team Ghana has already begun its campaign with the men’s U-20 soccer team, the Black Satellites, winning their opening game.
The women’s hockey team is also on course for qualification to Tokyo for the 2020 Olympic Games.
A statement issued by the Minister of Youth and Sports on Saturday wished the entire team “the very best of luck”.
“The Ministry,” the statement said, “is optimistic about a successful outcome after an impressive assignment by the International Games and Competitions Committee (IGCC)”.
“The Ministry appeals to Ghanaians to remember the team in support and prayers to propel them to victory as Ghana seeks to rewrite the scripts of sports on the continental front.”
Team Ghana will compete in 14 disciplines including boxing, beach volley ball, taekwondo, table tennis and badminton.
