A brace by Tahiru Awudu at the El Mansouria Municipal Stadium in Morocco gave the Black Satellites a 2-1 win over their Burundian counterparts in their opening Group B match at the 2019 All Africa Games.
Awudu scored both goals in the opening minutes of the game.
Though the Burundians pulled one back before the break, the score stayed the same till South African referee Eugene Mdluli blew the final whistle to signal the end of the game.
By the win, Ghana become the first side to scoop maximum points at the Games.
While Mali and Senegal failed to score each other in the other group game, Group A had on Friday seen Nigeria draw 1-1 with Burkina Faso with the match between Morocco and South Africa cancelled.
Ghana’s Satellites will next play on Wednesday, August 21 against Senegal before wrapping up with Mali on Saturday.
