Government has presented 17 brand new pick-up vehicles to the Ashanti Regional Health Directorate to boost healthcare delivery in the region.
The vehicles, worth 3.2 million cedis, are to be distributed to the various district health directorates in the region to facilitate the movement of staff on outreach health programmes and delivery of medical supplies.
Of the 43 health directorates in the region, only three of them had vehicles for official use.

“It will promote health services and reduce the stress of medical staff” she stated.
Meanwhile, the Ashanti Regional Director of Health, Dr Emmanuel Tinkorang has commended government for giving them the pick-up vehicles, and assured the vehicles will be used for the intended purposes.

Dr Tinkorang said they will not tolerate a situation where the vehicles will be used for church and farm activities.
The director called on beneficiaries to cultivate regular servicing and maintenance culture, in order to ensure the lifespan of the vehicles.
He recommended each vehicle is manned by one driver multiple-driver use causes vehicles to breakdown quickly.
