Ghana Commercial Bank were crowned champions of the Nii Amanor Dodoo Cup in Accra.
The match was played over the weekend at the Legon Ajax Park as the drizzling rains gave some cool temperature to the atmosphere.
GCB Bank smashed away the hosts, KPMG, in the finals with a 1-0 win in a pulsating encounter after both sides beat their opponent through penalties in their first games.
GCB Bank created decent chances but failed to make the best of it in the game and KPMG after settling in the game also created some chances through their poster boy Collins Agyapong. He, hwoever, failed to get a goal for KPMG.
The Nii Amanor Dodoo tournament was organised by the KPMG as a fitting arrangement to appreciate the work of the legend after serving the firm for over 40 years.
The tournament featured winners GCB Bank, Ecobank Ghana and Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG) and host KPMG.
Nii Amanor is the Senior Partner of KPMG in Ghana and has over four decades of work experience.
His core function includes giving strategic direction and managing operations to ensure the delivery of key corporate objectives.
He has served as audit engagement partner for audit services to a number of clients across various industry sectors including key subsidiaries of global clients in Ghana.
The partner advisory for KPMG, Andrew Akoto, said the tournament for the recognition of Nii Amanor exceeded their expectations.
“This tournament has exceeded our expectation with the turnout, with the organisation and the results.”
He also noted that the work done by the honouree has put KPMG Ghana at the global world.
“Nii Amanor Dodoo has spent 40 years with KPMG, growing the firm to exponential levels to the point that we are the leading financial professional services firms in Ghana.”
