The visibly excited sports journalist was one of the personalities awarded at 2019 Ghandour WISA/Omy TV Awards held at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, September 28, 2019.
Speaking after receiving her award, Nana Akua Amankwa said, “This is a very auspicious moment for me as we celebrate the success of Women in Sports this year. It is a great honour for me and my colleagues to be recognised and we say a big thanks to Mama G and the entire WISA team for this award. I am truly obliged for this great honour and recognition given by the management and the Board”.
She added: “The journey hasn’t been easy but with the grace of God and I was not alone though, I had my colleagues who worked along with me and my managers and supervisors who provided unconditional support to me, showed so much of trust and faith in me, which was the constant energy boost for me.
“I hope to use my experience gained over the past 9 years to nurture the young upcoming ones to be better than what we are today and change the mindset about female Sports Journalism.
“Female Sports Journalism can always get better and it is time we ladies take it to the next level to help build our society.”
