It was a night of heavy wins for the two English Premier League clubs on Match Day 3 of the 2019/20 UEFA Champions League.
A Raheem Sterling hat-trick at the Etihad on Tuesday night gave Manchester City a 5-1 win over Italian side Atalanta.
The English striker was not the only hat-trick hero on the night as Frenchman Kylian Mbappe scored his in a grand style.
He came on as a substitute for Paris-Saint Germain to score three times and assist with one goal as the French giants saw off Club Brugge 5-0 in Belgium.
Mbappe becomes the youngest French player to score a hat-trick in the Champions League.
Last season’s losing finalists Tottenham Hotspur were also 5-0 winners over Red Star Belgrade.
Skipper Harry Kane and South Korean Son Heung-min got braces for the side with Erik Lamela getting the other goal.
Another brace hero on the night was Polish Robert Lewandowski, who helped Bayern Munich crawl back to a 3-2 win over Olympiacos Piraeus of Greece.
Juventus produced a similar comeback in their home game with Lokomtiv Moscow as they beat the Russians 2-1, Paulo Dybala clinching a brace for Mauricio Sarri’s side.
Real Madrid will be the happiest of all the winners on the night as they clinched their first win of the campaign, courtesy a Toni Kroos strike.
It was a goal for the German to savour on his 100th cap for the Madridistas against Galatasaray.
