The Ghana Education Service (GES) has declared Wednesday, October 30 a holiday for all KG1 to primary 6 pupils in basic schools across the country.
A statement issued Tuesday by the GES said teachers handling these classes will be attending continuous professional development training.
“As a result…KG1 to primary 6 pupils will not attend school tomorrow Wednesday 30th October 2019 to enable the teachers have their full day of training and professional development”.
The Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programme, the GES explained aims at improving teaching and learning outcomes and at the same time “enhance the image of the teaching profession”.
It said the CPD has formally been adopted into the academic calendar to allow teachers upgrade themselves with the requisite knowledge and skills in the teaching profession.
The statement signed by the head of the PR Unit of the GES, Cassandra Twum Ampofo said the CPD programme will be held four times in a year.
It thus asked teachers, parents, guardians, pupils and the public to accordingly take note.
