The Representation of the People’s Amendment Act (ROPAA) Committee set up by the Electoral Commission is set to take a trip to the United States of America on November 1, 2019 to consult Ghanaians living in the USA to seek their consent and views towards implementing the Act.
The trip is one of many that have been taken in the past months outside the country by Committee to ensure broader consultations are held with Ghanaians living abroad.
“It is expected that feedback obtained from the consultations during the tour will be factored into the operationalisation of the Act by the Electoral Commission,” the Electoral Commission noted in a statement.
The delegation traveling to the US will be led by Deputy Electoral Commissioner and Chairman of the ROPAA Committee, Dr. Bossman Asare.
The ROPAA if implemented will allow Ghanaians in the Diaspora to take part in elections and exercise their franchise.
