Between Tuesday, May 19 and Wednesday, May 20, 173 cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Ghana.
This brings to 6,269 the total number of cases recorded in the country.
The latest update was released by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) on its website on Wednesday, May 20.
The number of deaths remains the same, 31, while the number of recoveries reaches 1,898.
Therefore, Ghana is currently managing 4,340 active cases in treatment centres and homes across the country.
Eight of these cases are said to be “severe”.
So far, the country has run 187,929 tests to confirm the cases, putting the positivity rate at 3.34 per cent.
The latest update saw Western Region recording the highest number of infections of 59 cases, most of which were from the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis.
Greater Accra Region, the region with the highest infections in total, recorded 46 new cases with the Ashanti Region recording 35 new cases, the majority of which came from Oforikrom and Obuasi.
Eight regions – Upper West, Volta, Upper East, Northern, North-East, Oti, Western North and Bono – recorded no new cases.
While the Central Region recorded 27 new cases, the Eastern Region recorded six – four in Akwatia and two in Kwahu West.
