The ruling New Patriotic Party in the Savannah region has appealled to the Overlord of Gonja, Yagbonwura Boresa Tuntumba 1 to call members of the opposition NDC to order.
According to them, the actions and activities of the NDC in the region in recent times has the tendency of creating chaos in the infant region.
Reacting to a press conference by the NDC on the circumstances surrounding the prosecution of an appointee of the erstwhile Mahama administration Alhaji Osman Mimina, the NPP revealed, though they sympathise with the family of Alhaji Osman, they think the law has spoken.
Frederick Tahiru, a communications team member of the party in the region who addressed a press conference in Damango implored the NDC to use other available legal means to get the former appointee out of prison rather than denigrating the reputation of the Jakpa palace.
“The NDC led by Mr. Basintale should get their lawyers to appeal if they think they have a case. After all, the courts were built before NPP came to power.”
He accused the NDC of being divisive and tribalistic over the prosecution, which he said is bad for the growth of the infant region.
Mr. Frederick noted, if the NDC’s ideology is something to go by, then a convicted Ashanti will run to the Asantehene’s palace likewise a Dagomba to the Yaa-Naa.
He called on the people of the region to disregard the allegations of the NDC and embrace development oriented programmmes rolled out by the NPP led government.
The NDC on Thursday May 21, 2020 said the incarceration of Alhaji Osman Mimina, whom said is a chief of Gonja, was politically motivated by the Akufo-Addo-led government.
Alhaji Osman Mimina with two others were found guilty and jailed by an Accra High Court for conspiracy and willfully causing financial loss to the state.
