The National Chairman of the PNC, Bernard Mornah is being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police for threatening to disrupt the upcoming voter’s registration exercise to be conducted by the Electoral Commission.
He is therefore expected to honour a CID invitation on Tuesday.
“The CID Headquarters is investigating a case in which you were alleged to have threatened to resist any attempt by the Electoral Commission (EC) to compile a new voter’s register for the 2020 general election,” the CID said in a letter to Mr. Mornah on Thursday, May 28.
The PNC chairman is alleged have made some explosive comments during the Inter-Part, Resistance Against New Register (IPRAN)-organized press conference on 26 May 2020.
“You were also heard in an interview to have threatened that ‘people who are already Ghanaians and already registered are going to be taken out of the voters register, don’t you think confusion will come out at the registration station and if confusion come there, you think the EC staff will be safe, we will beat each other there, we will kill each other there if that is what the EC want to lead this nation to’,” the statement by the police said.
